For my magazine I think that an ideal publisher would be IPC. IPC is one biggest publishers and my magazine is best suited to this publisher because the other big publisher, Bauer publishes the magazine Kerrang which is the closet product and competitor to my magazine. Therefore going with IPC my magazine is more likely to be successful. With IPC being owned by Time Warner who are the biggest producers of media products in the world. I choose this publisher because they are already big and well established producer in media products and this means that my product is more likely to have a wider target audience this way. Because IPC are a big publisher my magazine will be able to be distributed into the mainstream market, these are such shops like WH Smith or supermarkets this therefore optimises the availability for my magazine and putting it in the biggest magazine retailers in the UK my target audience have a more accessible length to get this magazine. Students are more likely to be able to get hold of this product if it put in to mainstream stores and places that have this magazine. My magazine also has its own website this also extends to my wider target market making my magazine more accessible and allows people to view my magazine in a different format. There are also extended features this way which means that my magazine can offer more up to date information and offer external features that you can get just in a magazine. I also think that my magazine will have a link to ITunes which means that my target audience can explore new bands and see more soft rock bands, and this could relate to my magazine and enhance my target audience. A disadvantage going with a big media company is that a big company might affect the "editorial independence" and my magazine might have to pay as much attention to the advertisers as to my target audience in order to maximise your profits. It’s a very competitive market and if this magazine doesn’t make enough money then it could be cut.
