Initial ideas

My magazine is to be aimed at white straight male, aged 17-25. With the basic genre being soft rock/southern rock/garage rock. These people will have a low income because these are mostly students but be aspires because they want to aspire to have the entire latest stuff and be rich. These people will have low paid jobs and still live at home or live in cheap accommodation because that’s what they can afford. This reflects the younger generation in today’s society. The content in this magazine will be about different rock bands, interviews, new music and albums, gigs and film reviews. This magazine going for a more niche market compared to those such as NME and Kerrang, being a soft rock music magazine. This magazine will have a few adverts so that this magazine will be viable and make a profit. There is a gap in the market for this magazine that’s why I am creating it because if I can get into this market this magazine could be quite big. My magazine will be monthly because this will give a better more informative magazine. For this magazine I am expecting on charging £2.00 to £3.50, because I’m publishing it monthly I can charge a bit more and students often have a disposable income meaning they like to buy things. But this is also a competitive price and students shouldn’t be daunted by the price they have to pay for it. The style of this magazine that I am going for is genre specific and be quite high quality for the music lovers of this genre. This magazine will give information on up and coming bands and local gigs. The type of music my magazine will feature is mainstream soft rock so bands like kings of Leon will feature in this magazine.
